CYPSP Presentation HBR have been asked to do a presentation on how young people can be involved feeding into CYPSP Participation. Sally asked for volunteers. Most were interested to be involved and it was agreed that they would meet next Thursday (15th) to plan the presentation. Jaz explained that she has been involved in recent consultations with groups of young people, including Young Reporters at Children’s Fund. Action: Sally to confirm venue and contact young people / arrange transport. Gloucester Urban Regeneration Project
Martin outlined he role in re-generating Gloucester. He showed a DVD which highlighted the areas that the project were working in and what the plans were for the future. He explained that a video diary project was up and running to find out what people currently think of Gloucester and has plans to set up an Urban Youth Forum. He was also visiting schools in Gloucester to inform young people about plans. Martin left brochures and information for group to take away. Everyone felt enthused by the plans and wanted to be involved in the future.
Ground Rules The group went through the ground rules again and at the last meeting, it was agreed that each young person would be given a warning for inappropriate behaviour resulting in breaking the ground rules. After 3 warnings, the young person would be suspended for a period of time set by group. DVD
Rhodri updated the group with what had been done so far on DVD. The purpose is for the DVD to be used to explain HBR to young people and adults to be launched at Guildhall in April. The locations and ideas have been planned but as yet we have no script. It was agreed that the meeting on 6th Dec would be extended so we could work on this. Action: Sally to find suitable venue and extend meeting to 3 hours long. Update on Forums Jaz updated the group about what Forest Youth Forum have been doing. Their most recent event was the re-cycling fashion show – Jaz’s team won, well done. Gemz reported that their was a young carers award evening coming up on 22nd Nov. AOB Jaz stated that in her visit to Young Reporters, she liked idea of portfolio’s which were a record of their work. The group thought that creating a group portfolio was a good idea and Sally said this could act as evidence to record their work which can then be accredited with an ASDAN award. Martin thanked group for allowing him to visit and said that the county has some motivated young people. Next Meetings Thursday 15th Nov to plan Presentation. This is instead of 22nd November.Thursday 6th Dec – extended meeting to work on script for DVD
